Renaud
The famous french singer Renaud Séchan will be the official sponsor of the 2016 Gerardmer Motordays. While his new single Toujours debout remains at the top of the charts, this big at heart longtime motorcycle enthusiast, who has repeatedly crossed France on a Harley-Davidson, has made us the immense gift of being our sponsor, when the whole country is waiting for the release of his new album scheduled for mid-April. Just like you, Renaud will be attending this wonderful celebration in the heart of the Vosges, and will be present from Friday noon to Saturday afternoon and participate in the bike show jury! Thank you, bro!
You will also find him at the signings booth where several of his books will be available, including his new collection Chroniques oubliées (Editions Helium).
Frank Margerin
Frank Margerin, who became famous for his inimitable drawings in the late 1970s in Heavy Metal magazine, but also through numerous illustrations for album covers, met with popular success with his fetish character Lucien, the most famous of the comic rocker, iconic character of the 80s. Winner of the Grand Prize of the city of Angouleme in 1992, its success has never been denied since then, and the bike fans can now find his stroke in the series Je Veux une Harley, written by his friend, yet biker, Marc Cuadrado, a series of witch the fourth volume just came out. Frank will sign copies of his comics in the signings booth.
Marc Cuadrado
Marc Cuadrado, is a comic book artist and writer of franco-canadian nationality. After having drawn pictures for young adult novels and different magazines, he created the character of Norma, a crazy teen ager who appeared in three different volumes (Casterman). In 2004, his new series Parker & Badger received the “1er grand prix des lecteurs du Journal de Mickey” award, and the award for best album at the Salon européen de la bande dessinée de Nîmes, in may 2006. In may 2012, together with Frank Margerin, Cuadrado started his news series, “Je veux une Harley” (I want a Harley), which is said to be largely autobiographical…
Thimothée Montaigne
Born in 1982 in Roubaix, Timothée Montaigne is probably the most biker of all current French artists (Wild magazine has indeed devoted in its last November issue a long article, where you can discover the chopper that this gifted artist built with his friends of Confidential Garage…). Very young, he was spotted by Soleil publishers where he started Le Cinquième Evangile with Jean-Luc Istin (3 volumes published). Then he attended Mathieu Lauffray for the colors of Long John Silver. This meeting will be decisive on his vision of comics. Since then, he has also drawn Malicorne and joined the adventure of the Troisième Testament alongside Alex Alice, realizing the design of its prequel Julius. A great friend to our late Coyote, Thim worked with him when he prematurely left us, and signed several designs that will be present in the tribute book to Coyote by the Free Freaks team.
Henri Lœvenbruck
Writer, musician and songwriter, knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, born in Paris, Henri Lœvenbruck is the author of 16 novels translated into 15 languages, ranging from thriller to adventure (L’Apothicaire, Serum, Le Syndrome Copernic…). His latest novel, Nous rêvions juste de liberté (Flammarion), a proper road movie book, is an ode to freedom and fraternity, a vertiginous dive into the world of old motorcycle clubs. It is also said that it is being adapted for comics and cinema… Member of the organization of the Gerardmer Motordays, and therefore probably somewhat busy during the weekend there, he will however be present at signing sessions!
Lebrun et Laudrain
André Lebrun and Thierry Laudrain respectively writer and illustrator of the comic series Mieux vaut tard, will be present at the Gerardmer Motorways, signing alongside Frank Margerin, Timothée Montaigne, Henri Lœvenbruck and Renaud.The series Mieux vaut tard traces the comic adventures of a handful of biker friends that nothing – given the difference in their bikes – predisposed to become inseparable bitumen brothers! While two volumes have been published, it is rumored that the third may be available in preview for our Motorways visitors!
